Wiith Southport suffering a home  Worcester wobble  last Saturday and Gainsborough's goal getting against Kettering last night  the weekend is set up for a six point shoot out at Rockingham Road. Kettering are eight points clear as we go into the Blue Square North match of the day at Rockingham Road with the Poppies having played a game more.

PORT SUPPORT TO KEEP FOREST ROAD POST OFFICE OPEN

Forest Road Post Office is under threat of closure and Southport FC  have joined the campaign to keep the local Post Office open. To support the campaign you can email: consultation@postoffice.co.uk or write to Richard Lynds c/o National Consultation Team, Freepost Consultation Team. Southport FC's Chief Executive Haydn Preece said "We are a community club and if Forest Road Post Office closed we are losing an essential part of our local community. We use Forest Road regularly and it is always busy.  I hope all our local supporters get behind this campaign and our more distant fans join in as a matter of principle to keep local Post Offices."

The Grandstand Bar will host  a Valentines Night on Thursday February 14th. Paul Glenndenning has  organised a night of live music with Irish entertainer and singer Ciara. Admission is just £3.

Peter Davenport and Huw Griffiths are taking training this morning at Litherl;and Sports Centre. It is hoped the management team will have a full squad to select from for Saturday's away trip to Blue Square North leaders Kettering.

STEVEN DRENCH STAYS AT SOUTHPORT ON LOAN

Steven Drench has agreed to extend his loan at Southport. The Morecambe goalkeeper has already made a big impression at Haig Avenue and will be between the sticks at Kettering on Saturday. Peter Davenport has been in talks with Sammy McIlroy and is delighted that Morecambe have been able to allow Drench to stay with the Sandgrounders.

Peter Davenport and Huw Griffiths reported an excellent training session this morning at Stanley High School. Everyone wanted to get Saturday's defeat out of their system and now the focus is on Saturday's trip to Blue Square leaders Kettering Town. Kettering are in action on Tuesday night taking on Gainsborough Trinity.

Hidden Names Competition

We had a fantastic response to the hidden names competition that appeared in the programme and on southportfc.net.

We received 38 entries with just 4 people spotting all 32 players names. First name out of the hat was Andrew Davies of Birkdale who on being told of his win very kindly put the prize back in the pot as he had won a signed ball the previous evening at the quiz in the club! The next name drawn out was John Greaves who takes the prize.
