PITCH INSPECTION 10AM NEW YEARS DAY

The Haig Avenue pitch is frozen solid at noon today-New Years Eve. A pitch inspection is scheduled for 10am in the morning. The New Years Day match versus Burscough is rated as extremely doubtful. The weather forecast over night is predicting temperatures to remain below zero meaning Haig Avenue will remain frozen tomorrow. We are just hoping the temperature lifts over night but that is unlikely. |

NEW YEARS DAY AT HAIG AVENUE KICK OFF 3PM

Southport are looking for a festive double over local rivals Burscough when they kick off 2009 at Haig Avenue. Team news is good with defender Chris Lever added to the squad that won on Boxing Day. Club captain James Connolly is also now close to a return. Alan Moogan serves his third match and will return to the squad for the Port's trip across the Pennines at Harrogate on Saturday January 3rd. Everyone came through the Boxing Day derby at Burscough.
The Haig Avenue pitch is frozen today -mid morning and we will update tomorrow regarding the pitch and the weather. Everyone at Haig Avenue is hopeful the match will escape the freeze but the temperature over the next 48 hours will dictate. |
